I've been keeping journals since I was in the 3rd grade and I'm so glad to share some of my most intimate life moments with you here!  Here, you'll find inspirational and encouraging stories of me and other broken people like me. We are all jars of clay who have been afflicted in every way, but not crushed...struck down by not destroyed.  Here, you do NOT have the right to remain silent, so as you read, grab your favorite snack and drink and leave a comment...share YOUR story. I can't wait to connect with you in this beautiful safe space.

welcome to my

journal!

KNOW YOUR WORTH | WORD OF THE WEEK | SACHEL SAMONE | LOVE & PORTRAIT PHOTOGRAPHER

On multiple occasions this past week and weekend, conversations surrounding one of my favorite passages in the Bible, Proverbs 31:10-30, also known as the “Virtuous Woman” passage were had.

While many different points were made, one of the phrases that stuck out to me…something I constantly kept hearing myself agree with and say over and over again was:

Knowing your worth can be applied to so many different situations. Maybe you keep allowing yourself to go back to the one man you need to get away from because he is a threat to your purpose, but he’s just SOOOOOO darn goodlooking. Maybe you’re at a job where you feel like you’re hitting a glass ceiling, but the pay is good, so you stay there, even though you know you’re not happy. Whatever the situation is, knowing your worth and refusing to accept anything less than what you KNOW you deserve is just as crucial to your life as air.

Proverbs 31:10 -30 starts off with

“Who can find a virtuous wife? For her worth is far above rubies.”

Everyone knows the saying “A diamond is a girl’s best friend.” But after some research, I discovered the value of the finest ruby, far exceeds that of a diamond of corresponding size and quality.

Do you know what that means?

It means we as women, are pretty darn valuable. It means that even the most precious of jewels can’t compare to our worth.

This passage, in my opinion, seems to be one that many of us know and can quote forwards and backwards, yet somehow seem to forget to apply to our own lives.

Women are amazing creatures. We are strong, powerful and graceful. What excuse do we have for lowering our standards and accepting less than what we deserve?

Isn’t it funny how sometimes we can hear within ourselves, it’s time for us to leave a situation, whether personal or professional, yet we stay? Or better yet, we begin to receive the treatment we do deserve and it freaks us out a little bit because we’re not used to it? I tell you, that women’s intuition is no joke. Whether it’s fear, doubt or just our minds playing tricks on us, it’s time we not only remember our worth, but OWN it. We deserve true happiness and we deserve to remove anyone or anything from our lives that tries to rob us of that happiness. Our time here on Earth is limited. Do you really want to spend it allowing yourself to settle because you don’t feel…worth it?

Throughout this week, I challenge us all to remember our worth. Know when it’s time to walk away from a situation OR run TOWARDS an opportunity. Just like we sometimes forget what we don’t deserve, I challenge us ALL to remember what we DO deserve. If God gives you a little extra shine, don’t freak out. Accept it with a smile.

Why?

Well, that’s simple:

Because you’re worth it.
