Dear E,

Happy Birthday!!! Today you’re officially one year closer to 30 and you’ve never looked better.

Who knew that almost 20 years ago, in a church summer camp, I would meet a young boy who would grow up to become the man of my dreams? Now don’t get me wrong, at times you were a nightmare and I ran as far from you as I possibly could, but I gotta tell you: the moment I stopped running from you and began running towards you was one of the greatest moments in my life. You have taken me to heights I couldn’t imagine and I…I stand in awe of you.

It’s one thing to have a good man and be in a good relationship. It’s an ENTIRELY different thing to be in a relationship that you know, without a shadow of a doubt, was ordained by God.

That right there is the difference between being lucky and being blessed.

Ethan, you are my blessing. 

 You are….the purest form of God’s love. You are patient. You are kind. You don’t find pleasure in boasting. You’re a man of few words, but your actions speak volumes. You pour into me and pick me up when I’m down, you are my safe haven.

Over the years, we have talked to each other, NOT talked to each other, yelled at each other, cried on each other’s shoulder, hung up on each other an supported each other. The peaks and valleys of our relationship have taught me what true love is and you fill my heart with so much love. The tears I cry now are tears of joy because after years of searching, finally…I feel like I’ve found my safe haven. Finally…I’m home.

So to the man that I want, the lover I desire and the friend that I need:

Happy Birthday to you:the bravest soul I know, the brightness behind my smile, the very beat of my heart and the best man this beautiful world’s got to give. I pray God continues to elevate you. Here’s to many more years of laughter, love and dancing to our own music. 🙂
