I've been keeping journals since I was in the 3rd grade and I'm so glad to share some of my most intimate life moments with you here!  Here, you'll find inspirational and encouraging stories of me and other broken people like me. We are all jars of clay who have been afflicted in every way, but not crushed...struck down by not destroyed.  Here, you do NOT have the right to remain silent, so as you read, grab your favorite snack and drink and leave a comment...share YOUR story. I can't wait to connect with you in this beautiful safe space.

welcome to my

journal!

DEAR AMANDA |LOVE & INSPIRATION | SACHEL SAMONE PHOTOGRAPHY

Dear Amanda,

I’ve actually been meaning to write this for quite some time now, but in this season of giving and gratitude, as I sit and reflect on how far I’ve come, I figured there’s no better time than now.

I simply want to say….Thank you.

Thank you for being you.

A lot of people may think that I’ve gotten here on talent alone, but that’s just a big fat lie. As I sit back and reflect on how far I’ve come in the past year, I realize…I couldn’t have gotten here without you.

When I chose to open a photography business, I had NO idea how many talented photographers were in Hampton Roads!! Once I did, honey let me tell you…. I felt so overwhelmed!

As someone starting out, it was hard to ignore all the talent and not feel like I had to compete with all of them.

And then I met you.

In a sea of talented (and sometimes arrogant) souls, your bright humble spirit showed me that I don’t have to compete with anyone. You assured me that if I stepped out there and just let my light shine, that I would soar. You have introduced me to a group of such amazing women (hey Q & A girlfriends!!)…women who I have been fortunate enough to come to call friends.  I had no idea there were so many women in this area that were just willing to help each other; build each other up and uplift each other when we felt defeated. In a world where women are known for being catty and extremely competitive, I’ve discovered a treasure in all of them. Being in the midst of so much talent and passion has challenged me and has really forced me to grow as a photographer and a businesswoman.

I’ve learned so many things from you over the past year, that I honestly think if I tried to list them all, I’d be writing forever. When I look at how far I’ve come since opening this business, I swell with pride because…well… I’m proud of myself. But I know I didn’t get here alone. From Richmond to Kitty Hawk, from our wedding day adventures to workshops to the simplest encouraging text, you have consistently helped me. You are helping me turn my dreams into a reality. Your transparency is among the most beautiful I’ve ever seen. You don’t hold anything back and I feel so blessed to know the woman behind the business. I can go on and on for days telling everyone who will listen why I’m so passionate about photography, but one of the main reasons why is because of women like you. You pour your souls into building others and give everything in you to see others succeed.

This cycle of positivity and selflessness is what we need more of in this world. You don’t have to say much because your actions of love speak on your behalf. I will forever adore you and hope that I can always encourage others the way you and so many others have always encouraged me.

So Amanda, thank you. My journey throughout this world is so much brighter because of your presence in my life. I’m so grateful to call you my mentor, my little ray of sunshine and most importantly my friend.  🙂
