I've been keeping journals since I was in the 3rd grade and I'm so glad to share some of my most intimate life moments with you here! Here, you'll find inspirational stories of clients, my journey as a wife and first-time mother and other adventures I have that makes my world go 'round. So please, sit back, grab some coffee ( or my personal favorite, a good ol' fashioned Arnold Palmer!) and enjoy exploring my latest work! Thanks for stopping by and happy reading!
I want to start this week off with talking about one of God’s most magical pieces of art: the Northern Lights!
As a southern girl living in Alaska, I’ve seen all kinds of things: moose giving birth in a Lowe’s parking lot, black bears trying to enter Target as I was leaving out (yea, that was a fun one)…fishing for our own salmon in the Kenai, but I gotta say, in my opinion there is nothing more beautiful than the northern lights. These magical lights that illuminate the night sky are so AMAZING!!
To be a total nerd for a moment, the aurora borealis, also known as the northern lights or Lady Aurora happens when a collision between fast-moving particles (electrons) from space and the oxygen and nitrogen gas in our atmosphere occurs. According to Nasa, these electrons originate in the magnetosphere, the region of space controlled by Earth’s magnetic field. As they rain into the atmosphere, the electrons impart energy to oxygen and nitrogen molecules, making them excited. When the molecules return to their normal state, they release photons, small bursts of energy in the form of light. In other words, when God gets really excited, the night sky dances. 🙂
I’ve had the pleasure of becoming slightly addicted to chasing them and have, as a result, seen them numerous times since moving to Alaska, but over the weekend, I saw THE BEST SHOW I’VE EVER SEEN!!! I went with chasing with another photographer and even though we were out there at 11pm, around midnight, the sky literally ERUPTED!! It was so bright I was actually able to capture it on my phone, which I’ve never been able to do! There were so many colors, SO much dancing, I mean…to watch God paint the night sky…I have NO words. So with that, I’m gonna stop talking and show you why I’m so OBSESSED with these beautiful northern lights!!
When the sky illuminated with yellow, I nearly squealed!!!
God is such an amazing artist!! I am still on a high after this show and can’t wait to see more now that Northern Light season is underway! Goodness I love Alaska!
