I first met Tiana last year and immediately I realized just how naturally beautiful she was.

With her petite frame and fiesty personality, I just knew I had to capture the woman she was.

We began to coordinate her session and within weeks, we were getting together…ready to have a great time.

I could tell she may have been a little nervous. But there was no need to be…in my eyes, she was absolutely beautiful. When she arrived at the studio to prepare for our shoot, one of the first things she mentioned to me was her hair. Almost every time she’d ever been photographed in the past, she wore a wig, so naturally she brought options. She looked to me and said:

“Which one should I wear?”

Now let me first say that with me being such a lover of all things curly, one of the first things I noticed about her in our first encounter were her curls!! Seriously…I LOVED them!! There was NO WAY I wasn’t going to get her natural locks in front of my lens.

I looked at her, smiled and said “None of them. All I need is you and your naturally beautiful self.”

And honey…let me tell you…her natural self was pure perfection.

 

Tiana and I are also both dancers, so when I asked if she could bring her pointe shoes, she agreed and I was so excited!! So there we were…two naturally curly-haired dancers, in a studio…one in front of the lens and one behind the lens. And together…we created something truly beautiful. 🙂

 

I chose Tiana to be my September covergirl because she not only an incredible mother, giving friend and overall talented woman. I chose her because of her heart. From the moment you meet her, you can’t help but smile and laugh because of the joy she allows to shine from within. She’s the type of woman you want to be around when you’re having a bad day because she’s guaranteed to make you smile. 

Tiana, thank you SO much for allowing me to capture you and talk dance and life with you. You are definitely one of God’s most precious works. 🙂
