I've been keeping journals since I was in the 3rd grade and I'm so glad to share some of my most intimate life moments with you here! Here, you'll find inspirational and encouraging stories of me and other broken people like me. We are all jars of clay who have been afflicted in every way, but not crushed...struck down by not destroyed. Here, you do NOT have the right to remain silent, so as you read, grab your favorite snack and drink and leave a comment...share YOUR story. I can't wait to connect with you in this beautiful safe space.
The journey into Greek life is a very special one.
When I decided to join Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, it was an exciting moment for me. Not only was it exciting because my mom is also a member of AKA and it was a big deal for me to continue the legacy, but I also appreciated what our sorority stands for: high scholastic standards, service to all mankind and personal and professional growth.
All greek organizations are wonderful and promote various programs and initiatives that serve local communities across the country and the world and I couldn’t be more proud to be a member of this amazing sisterhood.
My mom joined in Fall of 1982 through the Zeta Gamma Chapter at Prarie View A & M University, I joined in Fall of 2007 through the Eta Xi chapter at The University of Georgia and my baby sister recently joined through my mom’s undergraduate chapter…which of course made my mom EXTRA excited!!
For those who don’t know, a probate is a show to introduce the newest members of the greek organization to the “yard,” which is what the greek community is known as on campus. Watching my sister perform…I was so proud. Here are a few of my favorite images of the day!
Tiesha, I am SO proud of you. As you embark on this journey into the sisterhood, remember it’s more than just wearing the colors and skee-weeing. I can’t wait to see how you make our wonderful sisterhood greater.
Skee-wee my soror.
