I've been keeping journals since I was in the 3rd grade and I'm so glad to share some of my most intimate life moments with you here!  Here, you'll find inspirational and encouraging stories of me and other broken people like me. We are all jars of clay who have been afflicted in every way, but not crushed...struck down by not destroyed.  Here, you do NOT have the right to remain silent, so as you read, grab your favorite snack and drink and leave a comment...share YOUR story. I can't wait to connect with you in this beautiful safe space.

welcome to my

journal!

ENJOY THE JOURNEY | WORD OF THE WEEK| SACHEL SAMONE | LOVE & PORTRAIT PHOTOGRAPHER

While traveling this weekend, I took two different routes.  I took one route to go to my destination and a completely different route to come back home.

One route took me a back way. Instead of getting on the highway, this particular route took me down open roads with twists and turns, hills and valleys. On this route, I was able to ride with my windows down, my hair blowing in the wind, good music and a clear mind. The other route, had me in bumper-to-bumper traffic and surrounded by honking horns. Needless to say, my frustration levels were rising. But as I was on the road, and my stress levels were rising, I began to think my life, my dreams and goals.

Those thoughts led me what the phrase of the week was going to be for me:

The saying is true: “I’m not where I want to be, but thank God I’m not where I used to be!!” I still have a long way to go. There are times where I get discouraged about how far I had to go…especially when I was comparing myself to others and seemed to always be reminded that I just wasn’t there yet. But the thing I have to remind myself of and some of you as well is:

My journey is not your journey and your journey is not my journey, but it is just that: a journey.

It’s something we all do. When we’re younger, we can’t wait to be a teenager. When we’re a teenager, we can’t wait to be 21. When we’re 21, we can’t wait to be 25 and when we’re 25, all we want to do is go back to the days where the biggest decision we had to make was which color crayon we were going to color with. There is a season for everything…a time and a place for each moment of our lives. We have to remember that where we are in this particular moment in our lives is EXACTLY where God wants us to be.

If it was easy for us to attain our goals, we wouldn’t appreciate the process that we go through. If our journeys were identical to everyone else, everything that was unique about us would become invisible. Even when things don’t go according to my plan,  I remind myself that my plan doesn’t really matter. So when things don’t pan out, it’s ok. It just means that God has a better plan in mind. I decide in that moment to stop trying to wonder or question and let go. The key word is: TRYING.

Whether your road is currently open with sunny skies in front of you or filled with twists, turns and tons of rain, remember that every storm runs out of rain and seasons are ever changing. Don’t get discouraged about where you are. Look at how far you’ve come. You may not be where you want to be, but honey listen… you are exactly where you’re supposed to be. All you have to do is keep pressing on and take it one day at a time.

My prayer for the week for me and you all is that we all, stress less, relax more and simply enjoy the path God has us on. As you go through this week, celebrate the fact that you are not where you used to be and know that whether or not see your progress, God sees your progress and He is SO very proud of you.

Cheers to the journey and taking it one day at a time.
