Here we are…

hours away from 2015 and I gotta say: 2014 has been one HECK of a year!! I seriously have NO idea where to start! But I DO know the first thing I will say:

“Habakkuk 2:2-3.”

When January 1, 2014 came, I really had no idea what was going to happen. Just a few months earlier, I started a photography business and I was filled with so much excitement, determination and high expectations for myself. At church, we began a series about vision and how vital it is to have a vision for yourself. Our main scripture was Habakkuk 2:2-3 and the moment I read it, I felt something inside of me wake up…something like I had never felt before in my life and in that moment, I adopted that scripture, etched it into my heart, mind and soul and made a promise to myself that everything I did throughout this year would tie back to this scripture:

“And then God answered: 

Write the vision; make it plain so that it can be read on the run.

This vision-message is a witness
    pointing to what’s coming.
It aches for the coming—it can hardly wait!
    And it doesn’t lie.
If it seems slow in coming, wait.
    It’s on its way. It will come right on time. “

As I look in the mirror and stare at the woman who is staring back at me, I thank Him for allowing my visions to come to past. To see my work in a print magazine, be featured in some of the most amazing digital publications…publications I followed and admired before I started this business…to learn from and become friends with some of the greatest in the industry and capture the most beautiful souls God could have ever placed on this Earth..and not just capture them, but to help them really SEE themselves..it just brings tears to my eyes (happy tears of course.)

The women and couples I’ve been blessed to capture have breathed SO much life into me this year! They, along with my support system behind the seasons are a true reminder of what an amazing year 2014 has been. I’m so humbled and grateful for everyone who believed in me in my first FULL year in business! I’ve done so much I thought I couldn’t do. I GOT ENGAGED!!! Every single vision I wrote down and even some I didn’t dare to dream of came right on time and for that I fall to my knees and praise Jesus Christ.

These images…these moments, they may not be perfect according to industry standards, but they make me feel the most perfect emotions. And it is because of these emotions…because of these people and the memories we created together, I will forever fall in love with this art I call photography.

 

I can’t help but be SUPER excited  for 2015. God has brought me so far this year…and it can only get better from here. 🙂
