I've been keeping journals since I was in the 3rd grade and I'm so glad to share some of my most intimate life moments with you here! Here, you'll find inspirational and encouraging stories of me and other broken people like me. We are all jars of clay who have been afflicted in every way, but not crushed...struck down by not destroyed. Here, you do NOT have the right to remain silent, so as you read, grab your favorite snack and drink and leave a comment...share YOUR story. I can't wait to connect with you in this beautiful safe space.
It’s the moment that every military spouse looks forward to.
After months of being apart, enduring FaceTime calls at all hours of the night and trying to keep herself busy just to take your mind off dangers of a deployed environment, the day is finally here. She’s spoken to him, written down the time….today is the day:
Nick is coming home.
But with everything related to the military, there is always a chance everything will NOT go according to plan.
When Christina first talked about me photographing Nick’s homecoming, I was SO excited. As her friend, I felt like I was going through the deployment with her! She is such a strong woman and loving mama, so I knew this day was going to be SO amazing for her.
The date and time changed a few times, but we finally got it settled:
October 15. Norfolk International Airport. 9 p.m.
I could barely contain myself that day and a little after noon, I sent her a text and said “Excited for tonight? I can’t wait!”
Her reply wasn’t exactly one I expected.
“OMG girl.”
And then she sent me this:
WAIT.
You mean….he’ll be here in a few hours??! OH. MY. GOSH.
After gathering my thoughts and many failed attempts to remain calm, I frantically gathered my things, ran to my house, grabbed my camera gear and jumped on 64 headed towards Norfolk.
Once we arrived, we did what we do best…we waited.
The anticipation was killing me, but the moment when she saw him…oh my goodness. That look in her eye was priceless.
That first hug, kiss, how they didn’t want to let each other go….AHHHHHH! I know there is NO better feeling.
Christina, thank you SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO much for giving me the honor to capture this priceless moment. It may not have been on schedule, but it was RIGHT ON TIME!! Welcome home Nick!!
xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxo,
These literally brought tears to my eyes. I am so happy for this sweet little family. Welcome home Nick!
