I've been keeping journals since I was in the 3rd grade and I'm so glad to share some of my most intimate life moments with you here!  Here, you'll find inspirational and encouraging stories of me and other broken people like me. We are all jars of clay who have been afflicted in every way, but not crushed...struck down by not destroyed.  Here, you do NOT have the right to remain silent, so as you read, grab your favorite snack and drink and leave a comment...share YOUR story. I can't wait to connect with you in this beautiful safe space.

welcome to my

journal!

The Power of Small Moments: Noticing God’s Nudges in Everyday Life

It was a beautiful Sunday afternoon at the park. My little one was joyfully running around, laughing, and making sweet music. I, on the other hand, was enjoying a rare moment of semi-peace, listening to a sermon while keeping one eye on him. It felt like the perfect balance—feeding my spirit while giving him space to play.

Then, out of nowhere, she appeared.

An elderly woman, kind but unfiltered, started talking to me. At first, I responded politely—small talk, a few nods, all while still half-listening to my sermon. But as she kept sharing bits of her life, I felt it—that quiet nudge in my spirit.

Take your headphones out.

I hesitated. I was listening to church, after all. But the nudge persisted.

So, I did. I took out my headphones, put my phone away, and gave her my full attention.

And that’s when I realized—rather than just listening to a message about Jesus, I was being given an opportunity to hear God’s voice in everyday life and be the hands and feet of Jesus.

She talked about her loneliness, her struggles, and the weight she had been carrying.

The more she shared, the more I saw how much she just needed someone to listen.

Like… really listen.

By the time our conversation ended, I asked if I could pray for her. With tears in her eyes, she said yes.

That moment humbled me.

I was humbled because I almost missed it. I was so focused on listening to church that I nearly forgot my role in being the church. But God, in His grace, gave me a gentle reminder that sermons are powerful, but showing up for someone in their time of need potentially being the only Jesus they see? That’s even more powerful.

February is filled with love—grand gestures, sweet words, and carefully planned moments. But as we step into March, let’s not overlook the love found in the quiet, unexpected spaces. The kind that isn’t scripted or extravagant but asks us to pause, look up, and truly see the people around us.

Have you ever felt a nudge—one so small it’s easy to ignore, yet persistent enough to make you wonder? Maybe it’s the urge to check in on a friend, offer a kind word to a stranger, or simply slow down, be still, and notice who’s standing right in front of you. What if that nudge isn’t random? What if it’s God inviting you to be the reminder someone desperately needs—that they are seen, loved, and not alone?

Sometimes, the most powerful acts of love aren’t the ones we plan. They’re the ones we step into when we’re willing to be present. And maybe, just maybe, someone’s answered prayer is waiting on your yes.
