I've been keeping journals since I was in the 3rd grade and I'm so glad to share some of my most intimate life moments with you here!  Here, you'll find inspirational and encouraging stories of me and other broken people like me. We are all jars of clay who have been afflicted in every way, but not crushed...struck down by not destroyed.  Here, you do NOT have the right to remain silent, so as you read, grab your favorite snack and drink and leave a comment...share YOUR story. I can't wait to connect with you in this beautiful safe space.

welcome to my

journal!

THE BIG MOVE | SACHEL SAMONE | WEDDING WEDNESDAYS | TEAM HARRIS | ALASKA LOVE PHOTOGRAPHER

When I’m in Alaska, I feel like I’m in whole new world. A world where I can let my hair down, put on my fuzzy socks and cuddle with the one I love the most. A world where I feel like I can breathe better…it’s a world that I’ve completely fallen in love with.

Never in a million years, did I think that a Georgia girl who absolutely LIVES for heat (seriously…even when it’s 85 and sunny outside, I’m never far from a space heater) would ever actually WANT to move to Alaska. I mean…it’s COLD here! But there is so much I love about this place, that the cold has become irrelevant.

Here are a few things I love about this place:

5. The scenery and the weather.

I know, I know, it’s crazy right? But even when it’s blistering cold and there is snow on the ground, I’m in such a happy place. The mountains, the glaciers, the northern lights…the scenery is something that can’t be explained. It’s more of an experience. In the summer it’s gorgeous, but in the winter, it is truly a wonderland! Now I gotta say, it’s pretty weird seeing the sun up at 11 o’clock at night and the whole 6 months of “darkness” thing takes some getting used to, but honestly, there is no place quite like this.

4. The wildlife.

I’m telling you, the first time I saw a moose, I nearly lost it. It was probably one of the coolest things I had seen. To know that sightings like this are normal here…it’s mind-blowing.

3. The people.

The more time I spend here, the more I fall in love with the people. One thing I love about Alaska, and our country in general, is that it’s a melting pot for all cultures. I’ve met people from Hawaii, South Dakota, Texas and even some who were born and raised here and to hear their stories are so inspirational. Everyone comes from such different backgrounds, but the one thing they all have in common are their genuine love for this community and it makes me truly love them back. You can tell they really love being here and feeling welcomed is something I always appreciate, no matter where I go. 🙂

Whenever I prepare to move, one of the first things I immediately began searching for is a church home. Moving every few years has taken a toll on me, but being spiritually connected with other believers and constantly and consistently being spiritually fed is something that definitely eases the load. When I moved to Florida, it was Destiny Worship. In Virginia, it’s C3!! When Ethan first took me to ChangePoint , I immediately felt so comfortable. The leadership has such an honest love for people and their love for Jesus is so evident. One of the main things I’m looking forward to doing when I move is getting involved with the church. I feel like it’s just downright necessary.

And last but most certainly NOT least:

1. My best friend is here!

It’s nothing like my hometown, but the fact that Ethan is here sure does makes this place feel like home.  The adventures we have together here make this place so enjoyable…so much that I cry like a baby every time I have to leave! It takes forever and day to get here, but in the end, it’s worth all the happiness I experience when I’m here.

Making this move, is a scary, yet exciting part of my journey. There are a lot of memories that will be made in the last frontier and believe me when I say:

I honestly CAN.NOT. WAIT.

Now…if I can only convince some of my close girlfriends to come visit in the winter….:-)
