I've been keeping journals since I was in the 3rd grade and I'm so glad to share some of my most intimate life moments with you here!  Here, you'll find inspirational and encouraging stories of me and other broken people like me. We are all jars of clay who have been afflicted in every way, but not crushed...struck down by not destroyed.  Here, you do NOT have the right to remain silent, so as you read, grab your favorite snack and drink and leave a comment...share YOUR story. I can't wait to connect with you in this beautiful safe space.

welcome to my

journal!

Broken But Blooming, Clay Jar Convos, Dear 2025

January 1, 2025

Hello 2025.

Hey girlfriend….Happy New Year.

As the clock struck midnight and we officially ushered in another year, did you feel it? That quiet whisper in your heart, encouraging you to believe in new beginnings?

There is so much beauty in a new year isn’t it? Not just in the chance to set resolutions or buy a fresh planner (though I do love a good planner!)… but in the opportunity for a fresh start…to not be held hostage by the past, but to fully bask the warmth of new possibilities. It’s a reminder that God’s mercies are new every morning—and how much more so at the dawn of a new year?

For some of us, last year felt like a series of unexpected detours. Maybe you faced a heartbreak you didn’t see coming, or you’re navigating life in a chapter you never thought you’d write. If that’s you, I see you friend. And even more importantly, God sees you. He sees everything you’re going to be. He sees your future…and it. is. good.

Now here’s the thing about new beginnings: they aren’t about pretending the hard stuff didn’t happen. They’re about letting God shine His light through the cracks of our lives and mold the hard stuff into something beautiful. The betrayal happened. And it hurt. And it sucked. But God is good and He has a purpose for every tear, every stumble, and every sleepless night you endured. Your cracks are going to serve you well in this new year. I know because He tells us in His word:

“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose.” (Romans 8:28)

So, what does it look like to step into this year with God’s purpose in mind?

  1. Start Small, Dream Big.
Maybe you’re feeling a little fragile. You’re unsure about what’s next and feel too broken to do anything productive. Can I tell you something? That’s totally okay. God doesn’t need you to get “there” before you start. You can start right where you are. Trust God enough to take that first step toward healing and growing. And don’t let your fear stop you from dream big. The God of the universe….the One who placed the stars in the sky is also the One who is planting dreams in your heart and if you allow Him to….your dreams…your God-given dreams will bloom into the most beautiful reality.

“The Lord will fulfill His purpose for me; Your steadfast love, O Lord, endures forever.” (Psalm 138:8)

  2. Find Joy in the Now.
Whether this season feels like a storm or a sunrise, God is present in it. Look for Him in the little things: your little one’s laughter, the sound of the ocean waves outside your window, the sweet aroma from your cup of coffee or tea, a hug from a friend, or even a verse that speaks to your soul. Psalm 118:24 reminds us to rejoice and be glad in today because it is the day the Lord has made. So regardless of the season of life you find yourself in, challenge yourself to find moments of joy and peace from God today and everyday this year. Because when you seek Him, trust me…you WILL find Him.

  3. Give Yourself Grace.
Grace isn’t just something we extend to others; it’s also something we must give to ourselves. You’re not failing at life. You are not behind. You’re exactly where God can meet you and move you forward.

“But He said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for My power is made perfect in weakness.’ Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.” (2 Corinthians 12:9)

  4. Say “Yes” to His Goodness
God’s purpose for you isn’t about perfection; it’s about progression. It’s about saying “yes” to what He has for you this year—whether it’s a new city to call home, a new relationship, a new job, or simply a renewed sense of joy. But in order for you to receive the goodness He has for you this year, you have to surrender all to Him. Your plans, your desires, your will…EVERYTHING. It’s in that place of surrender—where you take your hands off the driver’s wheel, take your rightful place as the passenger princess, and trust His perfect plan—that God can do His most transformative work in your life. Jeremiah 29:11 says:

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

In 2025, all God wants from you is your yes. Are you ready to give it to Him?

As we step into this year, let’s remember together: we are loved. We are graced for this moment in time, and all we have is all we need for what’s ahead. God’s got me and God’s got you. And no matter what this year brings: there’s NOTHING too big—or too broken—for Him to redeem.

Here’s to a new year and cheers to you: May you walk boldly and unapologetically in His goodness. Happy New Year sis. Let’s live it well.

This is so refreshing and well written. I too love the beginning of a new year. It’s a time of reflection and plans to move forward. Jeremiah 29:11 is one of my favorite verses in the Bible, “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” When God himself says… I know the plans I have for you… when we give ourself some grace it is easier for us to see God’s plans, purpose, and vision for us. 2025 is going to be a blow-my-socks experience/year!!!
