I've been keeping journals since I was in the 3rd grade and I'm so glad to share some of my most intimate life moments with you here!  Here, you'll find inspirational and encouraging stories of me and other broken people like me. We are all jars of clay who have been afflicted in every way, but not crushed...struck down by not destroyed.  Here, you do NOT have the right to remain silent, so as you read, grab your favorite snack and drink and leave a comment...share YOUR story. I can't wait to connect with you in this beautiful safe space.

welcome to my

journal!

GIVE YOURSELF GRACE | AN ENCOURAGING WORD | FROM THE DESK OF SACHEL SAMONE

I’m not a perfectionist, but I can be pretty hard on myself. The dreams, goals and expectations I have for myself are really high and when I do fall short, I can get really down and sometimes feel like I am not doing enough. Like I am not enough. But as I’ve been spending less and less time on social media and more and more time in the Bible, I’ve rediscovered one of the most amazing gifts Jesus could have ever given us: GRACE.

The beautiful  thing about grace is that it’s never-ending. You literally can NEVER run out of it. Seriously. The very definition of grace is the free and unmerited favor of God. When you’re dripping in grace you ARE enough.

Did you just get married and are struggling to find the balance between giving your husband what he needs and not losing yourself in the process? Maybe you’re a new mom and while comparing yourself to other new moms, you are feeling inadequate and doubting your mommy instinct. Maybe you’re working hard to climb the corporate ladder and while you’ve been killing it for months now, lately you feel like you’ve fallen into a slump…that you’re running low on your inner magic and are beginning to wonder how the heck you made it this far to begin with. Are you a creative who just can’t help but look at another creative’s success religiously and feel incredibly insufficient? May I suggest something?

Take a step back and put your hand over your heart. Now..Inhale. Exhale.

Do you feel that? That rhythmic beat creating the song of your life? That my dear is purpose. Each time you inhale, you are exhaling purpose. That beat is proof that YOU. ARE. ENOUGH. That song is your daily reminder of grace. God has given each of us a certain amount of time to be on this earth and to spend it being so hard on ourselves and not giving ourselves grace is a waste of those precious hours and minutes.

I know it’s sometimes really hard to not be so hard on ourselves, but you have to give yourself room to grow…room to live fearlessly…room to experience unmerited (and sometimes undeserved) favor. There may be no room for  do-overs and second chances, but there is room for you chase progress instead of perfection and to celebrate the small joys rather than wallow in the big failures. You are SO much more capable than what you give yourself credit for.

As we all continue to kick off March and prepare for the refreshing spirit Spring will bring, I encourage you…no matter where you are in your life’s journey…regardless of how far along you are in YOUR plan…make room for grace and celebrate how far you’ve come. Remember you are a work in progress and no that every step you take, no matter how small, is more than enough.

After all, the smallest step in the right direction just end up being the biggest step of your life. 🙂
