I've been keeping journals since I was in the 3rd grade and I'm so glad to share some of my most intimate life moments with you here! Here, you'll find inspirational and encouraging stories of me and other broken people like me. We are all jars of clay who have been afflicted in every way, but not crushed...struck down by not destroyed. Here, you do NOT have the right to remain silent, so as you read, grab your favorite snack and drink and leave a comment...share YOUR story. I can't wait to connect with you in this beautiful safe space.
Some stories don’t need much direction—they just unfold naturally, like light on water or the laughter of a child. This is one of those stories.
A few days ago, I had the honor of photographing the Hall family on the soft, glowing shores of Henderson Beach, one of my favorite spots on the Emerald Coast. And let me tell you: it was more than a shoot. It was a celebration of legacy. Of love. Of three generations of Black family joy standing together beneath a sky brushed with strokes only God could have painted.
For as long as I can remember, Sara has been a part of my life. Though we met in high school, our friendship was solidified during our college days at Georgia, and even when life pulled us into different cities, chapters, and callings, our rhythm never changed. We’ve watched and cheered each other on as we grew into women, mothers, and the kind of friends who show up with full hearts and shared history.
The last time she was in front of my lens was a decade ago. A lot has changed since then—marriages, babies, new beginnings——but a few things have remained beautifully constant between us: our laughter, our joy, our love of adventure, and the deep connection that’s always felt like home.
Walter and Joyce Hall, the anchors of this family, are approaching 43 years of marriage this July. As I captured them, I could tell their love is steady and sure—the kind that doesn’t need grand gestures to be felt. Watching them walk the shoreline together, surrounded by their daughters and grandchildren, felt sacred. Like seeing the roots and the fruit all in one frame.
This multi-generational beach session wasn’t just a photoshoot—it was a reminder of how legacy is lived and passed down, one moment at a time.
Their daughters—Sara, Genna, and Brittni—each came with their own growing families. Genna, married for three years, with her two sweet kids. Brittni, eight years in, raising a daughter with her husband by her side. And Sara, newly married and full of joy, chasing a toddler on the sand with the same laughter I remember from college.
The kids brought the kind of energy only children can—wild and free, sandy and smiling. We played, we paused, we danced with the tide. And as the sun dipped lower, it became less about posing and more about presence. About capturing the quiet pride in a father’s eyes. The softness between sisters. The giggles of cousins meeting the waves together for the first time.
As a photographer serving the Emerald Coast and beyond, I believe the most powerful images are the ones that feel like home. The ones you come back to year after year because they remind you of who you are and how far you’ve come.
What we created wasn’t just a gallery—it was a time capsule. A love letter to where they’ve been and where they’re going. A reminder that through all life’s changes, some things remain beautifully the same.
To the Hall, Easterly, Hentz, and Potts families: thank you for letting me step into your circle. For your laughter, your love, and your legacy. And to Sara—thank you for always showing up with your full heart. Photographing your families was an honor and a joy. May these images always serve as a reflection of all the goodness God has grown in and through you.
Here’s to generations of love—and the stories still to come.
